TWI-Institute - 2018 Standard
The TWI-Institute 2018 Standard addresses various aspects of a company's quality management system and identifies, explains and standardizes some of the best known practices for ensuring that supervision to operator relationships are strong and true, and that training is performed in the most cost efficient, effective and safe manner possible. The standard provides guidance and tools for companies and organizations who want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customer's requirements, and that quality is consistently improved.
Training Withing Industry:2018
TWI:2018 sets out the criteria for a company to integrate TWI practices into their Quality Management System (QMS), and when implemented properly, is the standard that can be certified (although this is not a requirement). It can be used by any organization, large or small, regardless of its field of activity. It is equally as effective in service companies as manufacturing or healthcare.
This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. These principles are explained in more detail in the pdf Quality Management Principles. Using TWI:2018 helps ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products and services, which in turn brings many business benefits.
Certification to TWI:2018
Checking that the "people" systems work is a vital part of TWI:2018. It is recommended that an organization performs internal audits to check how its quality management system is working, and the TWI initiative is integral to the QMS. An organization may decide to invite Training Within Industry Institute certification body to verify that it is in conformity to the standard, but there is no requirement for this. Alternatively, it might invite its clients to audit the quality system for themselves.
Certification can be a useful tool to add credibility, by demonstrating that your product or service meets the expectations of your customers. For some industries, certification is a legal or contractual requirement.
The Training Within Industry Institute performs certification audits to its standard, TWI:2018.
At TWI-Institute, we developed the TWI:2018 Standard, provide guidance on how to comply with the standard, and offer a "Certification" to the standard.
